Conserve Water and Save Money
Fix leaking faucets, toilets and showerheads
Run the dishwasher and washing machine with full loads
Don’t let the water run for vegetable and dish washing
Don’t let the water run while you shave or brush your teeth
Use a broom to clean driveways, walks and patios
Take showers rather than baths and keep showers short
Don’t use the toilet as a trash can
Water the lawn early in the morning or in the evening to avoid evaporation
Keep grass at least two inches high to shade roots
Aerating the lawn regularly, and use mulch to reduce evaporation
Plant native or drought-resistant grass and plants to reduce watering needs
Water trees slowly, deeply, and not very often.
Keep a bottle of water in the refrigerator for drinking, try not to run faucet for cold water.
Install aerators on bathroom and kitchen faucets
Install low-flow toilet (1.6 gallon per flush)
Install low-flow showerheads
Insulate your water heater and pipes
