The Town of Newburgh is located  approximately 60 miles north of New York City. The Town is 45 square miles and includes part of Stewart International Airport. The Town is strategically located at the junction of Interstate 84 and New York State Thruway Interstate 87. Other major arteries which cross the Town of Newburgh are New York State Highways 9W, 17K, 32, 52,  and 300. State Highway 207 skirts the southeast corner of the Town.

The newest New York State highway, New York State Route 747, traverses the extreme southwest corner of the Town of Newburgh. The new road, which opened for traffic in 2007, is only 3.4 miles long, but interchanges with Interstate Route 84. This new Exit 5A from Interstate 84 is the easternmost of five Interstate 84 interchanges within the Town of Newburgh.

Exit 17 from the New York Thruway (Interstate 87) is in the Town of Newburgh.

The western terminus of the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge, which carries Interstate 84 across the Hudson River, is in the Town of Newburgh. This span, which was initially opened in 1963 with a twin span opened in 1980, is the only Interstate crossing of the Hudson River between the Tappan Zee Bridge just north of New York City, and the Berkshire Thruway connector just south of Albany.

The Town of Newburgh is located at the northeastern extremety of Orange County, the fastest growing of New York State's 62 counties, and the only County in New York which borders both the Hudson and Delaware Rivers. 

The Town of Newburgh has a population of approximately 30,000 residents. There is excellent housing in the form of single family houses, condominiums, and apartments. 

The Town is bordered on the east by the Hudson River; on the north by the Towns of Marlboro and Plattekill in Ulster County; on the west by the Town of Shawangunk in Ulster County and the Town of Montgomery in Orange County; and on the south by the Town of New Windsor, also in Orange County.  In the southeast corner of the Town, the Town of Newburgh surrounds on two sides the City of Newburgh, which is a separate municipality.

The Town has a low crime rate with a community oriented and professional Police Department. Dedicated volunteers provide the foundation for top rated Fire Departments. The Town of Newburgh is a nice place to raise a family and do business.

The National Purple Heart Hall of Honor is located in the Town of New Windsor on NYS Route 300, less than two miles south of the Town of Newburgh border.
