PUBLIC NOTICE: WATER CONSERVATION IN THE TOWN OF NEWBURGH
In light of the unseasonable dry conditions, the Town of Newburgh Supervisor Gil Piaquadio and Town of Newburgh Town Board are encouraging users of water supplied by the Town of Newburgh Consolidated Water District to conserve water.
At the October 28th Town of Newburgh Town Board Meeting, the Town Board passed a Resolution that restricts non-essential outdoor water use due to drought conditions. As a result, the following activities are temporarily prohibited in the Town:
- Irrigation of lawns/gardens via sprinklers or automatic irrigation systems (commercial irrigation excluded);
- Filling of residential swimming pools/hot tubs;
- Washing of vehicles except by bucket (commercial car washes excluded);
- Washing of exterior building surfaces, driveways and walkways; and,
- Filling of artificial or ornamental displays such as fountains, waterfalls, reflecting pools, and ponds.
This restriction on non-essential outdoor water use remains in effect until Supervisor Piaquadio notifies the public that these water conservation measures are no longer warranted.
Supervisor Piaquadio and the Town Board thank the public for their efforts to conserve water throughout the Town of Newburgh.
