DETECTIVE DAVID OTTO RETIRES

On July 28, 2017, a ceremony was held to celebrate the retirement of Detective David Otto from the Town of Newburgh’s Police Department. Detective Otto worked at the Town of Newburgh’s Police Department for 36 years, and spent majority of those years as an Identification Officer.
Throughout his tenure, Detective Otto worked on every major case in the last 25 years including the DeBrizzi murder case. Detective Otto was instrumental in the solving of the DeBrizzi murder case by obtaining DNA from a piece of gum left at the crime scene.
During the ceremony, Town Supervisor Gil Piaquadio stated that “Dave will be missed and difficult to replace” and “wished him the best on his retirement.”
